Day 1

I’m truly shell shocked at being down here especially when looking back on just how poorly I planned this trip. No research on Santiago, barely got my passport on time, packed an hour before I left, and it goes on... I was under the impression that day-dreaming about what I want to do down here was the same as finding out what there is to do in Santiago (aside from vague ideas of touring wineries). Ahh well. I guess I’m freaking out because of a poor sleep on the plane and not enough to eat.

The seafood here is supposed to be amazing, so I’m going to locate a good restaurant and tuck into some sea bass I hope.

I met an interesting German woman in Toronto ´s terminal 1. She was going back to Cologne after spending Christmas in Whitehorse where her husband is a champion dog-sledder. She’s going back to sell their place in Germany so that she and her family can live in the great white north and race dogs permanently! Good on her. I’d personally pick and eat lice out of an orangutan’s back hairs than move to the desolation of Whitehorse.

Going to call my friend and boxing trainer Humberto who also is down here visiting family.

My next posts should be a little more coherent I hope. The fatigue and winter’s grip on my brain should be wiped away.

I agree with your take on Whitehorse. My niece has lived there for 20 years and I've always found an excuse not to visit.

Happy adventuring and safe travelling to you!

Keep posting.
